We traveled back to Washington to see family and spend a few nights with friends in Suncadia. We shared a house with 16 adults and 14 children under the age of 5. We survived and actually had a really good time. We finished the week off with lots of family time.

- This boy loves attention. He used to be happy just laying on the floor or in a swing for hours, but now he wants you talking to him or toting him around.
- And then he will smile and almost always laugh whenever attention is shown to him. He's a happy boy!
- He likes to sleep. He's still taking naps often, but also wants to go to bed by about 8 (wish his sister would follow his lead...). We just have a quick feed at 5am and then it's back to sleep until about 7.
- The rolling has started. Unlike most kids, this boy likes to be on his tummy. So if you put him on his back, he immediately will flip to his stomach and start doing the superman. Or fall asleep...
- No pacifier or thumb for this guy. He rolls on his belly and he's out.
- His neck control is solid. We've started using the exersaucer and phasing out things like the swing. As mentioned earlier, he likes to be on the move.
We are all so lucky to have such a great dad. The kids because he is so present and will do anything and everything for them. And me, because he is truly a partner in this parenting adventure that will do more than his share, and is always happy to do it.
We started Father's Day with a crepe breakfast and ended it with a few beers at a local brewery. In between we laid low from the heat and enjoyed the day together.
We've had a couple dates in the last few weeks to continue the bonding time we had while we were all home on maternity leave. Love the special time with this little lady.
Nail date. I thought she'd be overwhelmed with all the colors, but the girl knows what she wants. 'I said I wanted pink!'. There was a lot of 'Mom, why is she doing that?...Mom, what is she doing to your foot?'
Water Park Date with lots of pools and a few water slides that caused mom some bruises to keep this big girl upright, but it was a fun afternoon!
Since the 'new school' didn't work out back in February, we refer to this one as the 'new new school'. Here are some first day pictures. It's been two weeks and so far so good. We still get a few tears at drop off from Audrey, but she talks fondly about it. It helps that summer activities include magic and puppet shows, splash days, basketball, karate, bike day, etc. Something to look forward to and get excited about everyday.
Although through role play, we get the real story. She loves being the teacher and having me the student. Here's how it goes.
Audrey: Now you cry. 'Don't cry, your daddy will be here soon. Why don't you play with your new friends!'
Me: I like my new friends.
Audrey: 'Has your mom ever forgotten you? She'll be here soon!' Do you want me to help you trace? I can help you if you want?'
