Containment

We have some new toys around our house. One I always told myself I wouldn't have - the big saucer that is large and constantly in the way. I had many mothers before me tell me I was wrong and I guess they were right. When you have an early crawler, you need some means of containment to prepare dinner or even brush your teeth. So our little house is full of colorful contraptions. Audrey does seem to enjoy them. For awhile at least - until she is ready to get on the floor and move yet again!

Randoms

Just some random photos from the last few weeks. Unfortunately, I don't always have the good camera handy, but the iPhone is usually at arms reach. Please don't mind the quality!
Peacefully taking a snooze and not so happy about getting packed up...
Enjoying her monster towel after a bath.

All ready for a Husky win (unfortunately, they were not as ready).
Giddy once again on the changing table!

Hanging out with Grandma (sporting mom's pink snowsuit from 1983).
Sark is not the biggest fan of the baby proofing that is occurring around the house!

A Fall Day

We took advantage of a beautiful fall day to take Audrey to her first pumpkin patch. We left without a pumpkin (the squirrels out front just feast on them), but did get a couple of obligatory fall photos.

Not too amused but sitting up tall
Grandma came to town for a visit
2 feet tall this fall!

Six Months Old

We have no idea how 6 months have passed, but it has all of a sudden been half a year since this little one joined us. Watching her learn and grow has been pretty amazing.

Audrey's Six Month Stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 12.5 oz  (50th percentile)
Length: 26 1/4 inches (70th percentile)
Head Circumference: 16 1/8 inches (15th percentile)

A little bit about Audrey as she hits 6 months:
  • She's CRAWLING: As I mentioned last month, she's been up on all fours learning how to stabilize herself. But just in the last week she's figured out the coordination of moving forward. And it's not taking long for her to get places, the girl is constantly on the move. The doctor muttered this is the youngest baby she's seen crawling in a long time...followed by 'you're in trouble'. I'm happy she's advanced, but we weren't quite ready for such a mobile baby.
  • She's focused: You can see the wheels turning as she picks up toys and figures out cause and effect. And she wants to grab and crush everything!
  • She's animated: She's still laughing and screeching and babbling a lot. But her latest thing is throwing her hands up in a 'v' and down together at her feet while she's sitting up. She puts on a great show. Maybe it's her way of doing the 'touchdown' move we've been teaching her.
  • She's a cat napper: Unfortunately, she's into only half hour naps unless we are in the car or in a stroller. I hope she's getting enough sleep to continue her strong development!
  • She's got TEETH: The two lower front teeth made an appearance a couple weeks ago. I think we are on a little hiatus, thankfully. The drooling has reduced quite a bit, but everything still goes straight to the mouth.
  • She's cuddly: When she's tired, she lays her head on my shoulder, sucks her thumb and strokes (ok, pulls with some force) my hair and face. It is the best.
  • She loves her mom and dad: And right up there with the cuddling is seeing her face light up when one of us walks into the room. Which most of the time leads into a full out giggle. The other day we were coming upstairs because she spit up all over herself and me when Josh walked in the door from a soccer game. Her face lit up more than I've ever seen it at the sight of daddy. It never gets old.

Dad walked into her room - big grin!
  • She's taking lessons from her dog - we think he's whispering to her when we are not looking...
    • She won't let us cut her nails, just like Sark
    • She loves to throw things where she can't get them and whine until we pick them up, just like Sark
    • She's always trying to grab and play with anything that is NOT hers, just like Sark
    • She loves to take a nap on mom and dad, just like Sark (although we try to limit this!)
    • She's full of energy and fun and we are so lucky we are her parents, just like Sark!
The difference in a month...

Husky Fan on the Move

Oh, hi mom.
Look, I'm crawling
I can also sit up real well
Hmm, what should I get into now
Sometimes I get so excited
I fall right over
And it's so funny!

A Lover of Squash?

The verdicts still out.
The first taste of solid food wasn't totally successful.
We got a couple bites in, a couple concerned looks and then the mouth glued shut.
Josh told me of course she doesn't like it since I didn't 'airplane it' in.
Lesson learned. We will be trying again.

Happy in her chair.

Not too sure what to think.

No thank you.

But crawling...

She LOVES to crawl!

A Fun Weekend

We spent last weekend in Aberdeen celebrating Tracie and Ross's wedding - a very fun event!

The girls all ready
The beautiful bride!

While I got ready, Audrey got to spend a day at the beach with dad, grandma and Aunt Jessie.
I think she enjoys a nice Washington day

On our way back to the airport, we stopped in to say hello to the newest member of the family - Henry Michael Rasar. Such a tiny little one, especially compared to Audrey!

Laughing Babe

It's been a rough couple of weeks with a bad cold that has brought with it a fever and an adult sounding hacking cough which in once case caused some rather intense projectile vomiting. But we are rebounding and in the last couple of days our laughing, chattering little babe is back feeling like her normal self.

Dawg Fans in Chicago

We had a great trip to Chicago to cheer on the Huskies with the best of friends. It was full of lounging, laughter, and babies. Can't wait for the next adventure with this group and to see all these kids grow up together.
