Six Months Old

We have no idea how 6 months have passed, but it has all of a sudden been half a year since this little one joined us. Watching her learn and grow has been pretty amazing.

Audrey's Six Month Stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 12.5 oz  (50th percentile)
Length: 26 1/4 inches (70th percentile)
Head Circumference: 16 1/8 inches (15th percentile)

A little bit about Audrey as she hits 6 months:
  • She's CRAWLING: As I mentioned last month, she's been up on all fours learning how to stabilize herself. But just in the last week she's figured out the coordination of moving forward. And it's not taking long for her to get places, the girl is constantly on the move. The doctor muttered this is the youngest baby she's seen crawling in a long time...followed by 'you're in trouble'. I'm happy she's advanced, but we weren't quite ready for such a mobile baby.
  • She's focused: You can see the wheels turning as she picks up toys and figures out cause and effect. And she wants to grab and crush everything!
  • She's animated: She's still laughing and screeching and babbling a lot. But her latest thing is throwing her hands up in a 'v' and down together at her feet while she's sitting up. She puts on a great show. Maybe it's her way of doing the 'touchdown' move we've been teaching her.
  • She's a cat napper: Unfortunately, she's into only half hour naps unless we are in the car or in a stroller. I hope she's getting enough sleep to continue her strong development!
  • She's got TEETH: The two lower front teeth made an appearance a couple weeks ago. I think we are on a little hiatus, thankfully. The drooling has reduced quite a bit, but everything still goes straight to the mouth.
  • She's cuddly: When she's tired, she lays her head on my shoulder, sucks her thumb and strokes (ok, pulls with some force) my hair and face. It is the best.
  • She loves her mom and dad: And right up there with the cuddling is seeing her face light up when one of us walks into the room. Which most of the time leads into a full out giggle. The other day we were coming upstairs because she spit up all over herself and me when Josh walked in the door from a soccer game. Her face lit up more than I've ever seen it at the sight of daddy. It never gets old.

Dad walked into her room - big grin!
  • She's taking lessons from her dog - we think he's whispering to her when we are not looking...
    • She won't let us cut her nails, just like Sark
    • She loves to throw things where she can't get them and whine until we pick them up, just like Sark
    • She's always trying to grab and play with anything that is NOT hers, just like Sark
    • She loves to take a nap on mom and dad, just like Sark (although we try to limit this!)
    • She's full of energy and fun and we are so lucky we are her parents, just like Sark!
The difference in a month...
