Tough Day

Today was Audrey's 2-month check up which means shots and more shots. She handled the oral vaccine with just a slight fuss. Even the first shot wasn't too bad. But the second and third poke really sent her into a fit, red face and screams. We brought reinforcements this time in dad to hold her so I could look away and amazingly didn't cry myself.  Luckily she calmed down by the time we left and was asleep by the time we got to the car. She has a slight fever and is pretty upset when awake...hopefully our smiley girl feels like herself again soon!

Audrey's Two Month Stats:
Weight: 12 pounds 9 ounces  (85th percentile)
Length: 23.5 inches (80th percentile)
Head Circumference: 15 inches (20th percentile...petite little thing)

As Josh said to her...'it's not so bad, you get fun little bandaids...your cousin Grace loves bandaids!'

A Weekend Away

Our first road trip as 4 was a success! We took off for the weekend to Telluride - an absolutely beautiful place that rivals (and possibly beats) Whistler.

We left Friday night to break up the drive. What should have been only 3 hours turned into 5 due to coming to a complete stop for close to an hour for road construction, resulting in having to stop to feed a hungry girl (me and Audrey both).

The backseat passengers ready to rock and roll
Continuing on our way Saturday morning, we drove the remaining four hours through some scenic Colorado country. We checked into our hotel (both Audrey and Sark really enjoyed the large comfy king-sized bed) and walked around town.

We stayed in Mountain Village, which is up above Telluride (elevation ~9500 feet) and a free gondola just steps from our hotel took us right into town.

Happy Father's Day!
Sunday we spent hiking to Bridal Veil Falls, which from the map looked like a trail that started right from town. Of course, it was a little further from town than expected, so what we thought was going to be a 3-mile hike turned into about 6 miles (all up hill on the way to the falls). But it was beautiful and well worth the trek.

On the way home we stopped to explore Black Canyon National Park and have a picnic lunch - it was a great trip!

Escape Artist

We put Audrey down in a tight sleep sack, but lately she always seems to get one or both arms out...

So she can very aggressively suck her thumb. So loud it turns the monitor on.

And, it's been developing for awhile, but now is very pronounced - a huge bald spot on the back of her head. It now feels exactly like her forehead!

Two Months Old!

A few things about Audrey as she hit the 2-month milestone June 12th:

- Her changing table is her happy place. As soon as you lay her down she starts smiling uncontrollably.

- She's still not a big bath fan. But as Josh reminds me, I am still not a huge fan myself, so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise. We are improving having graduated from a full out wail to a slight whimper and sometimes even contentment near the end.

- She is still extremely easy to go off and run errands with or take out to eat. Usually after about 10 minutes in her car seat or stroller she is fast asleep. She has no idea the places she's been.

- She loves to lay on her play mat where she can look at her reflection in the mirror and kick the little toys hanging down. She'll sit and smile and kick her feet for close to a half an hour, happy as can be.

- When she is done lying by herself, she likes to be held standing on your lap in a squat position. She constantly pushes herself up and back down...already working on those hops.

- And when she is done with squats, she likes to move. Walking around looking at the different pictures on the wall and lights up above is one of her favorite things to do.

- Her hands and feet seem HUGE (although I really have nothing to compare them to). Her feet are already exceeding the space designated for them in the 3-month sleepers. Luckily they stretch!

- She is getting some seriously cute baby rolls as can be seen in the thigh and arms. We are glad to know she is well fed and growing.

- We are trying to get a little bit of a routine with naps. For the most part she is starting to comply, but not without fussing for about three minutes. Five minutes is my max before I'll go in to comfort her but she rarely goes that long.

- Nighttime is going well. She'll sleep ~6 hours before waking up to feed and go back down for a couple more hours. Dad gets a pretty solid 8-hours every night. Mom is catching up.

- She is so much fun and definitely takes after her dad with her laid-back, anything goes attitude!

Dog Days of Summer

95 Degrees Outside = 85 Degrees Inside = Naked Most of the Time

But we did get dressed to go meet Dad for lunch.

All Smiles

It's pretty fun to see these big smiles that are becoming much more frequent. And it's pretty amazing to have a little girl give a huge grin whenever you approach because she knows you are mommy!

Hungry Girl

It's easy to tell when this little one is hungry...which is pretty much all the time!
Sleepy girl
I think I'm hungry...
Yep, let's try this hand

Nope, how about over here

I'm serious...give me some food!
