A Weekend Away

Our first road trip as 4 was a success! We took off for the weekend to Telluride - an absolutely beautiful place that rivals (and possibly beats) Whistler.

We left Friday night to break up the drive. What should have been only 3 hours turned into 5 due to coming to a complete stop for close to an hour for road construction, resulting in having to stop to feed a hungry girl (me and Audrey both).

Continuing on our way Saturday morning, we drove the remaining four hours through some scenic Colorado country. We checked into our hotel (both Audrey and Sark really enjoyed the large comfy king-sized bed) and walked around town.

We stayed in Mountain Village, which is up above Telluride (elevation ~9500 feet) and a free gondola just steps from our hotel took us right into town.

Happy Father's Day!
Sunday we spent hiking to Bridal Veil Falls, which from the map looked like a trail that started right from town. Of course, it was a little further from town than expected, so what we thought was going to be a 3-mile hike turned into about 6 miles (all up hill on the way to the falls). But it was beautiful and well worth the trek.

On the way home we stopped to explore Black Canyon National Park and have a picnic lunch - it was a great trip!
