Delbert Edward Fredlund

Our family and hearts grew when we welcomed Del to the world on 22 February at 3:15pm.  He was so comfortable in mom's belly that we had to induce him out after ten days past the due date. We went into the hospital Sunday night 21 February intending to start the induction, but I had progressed enough on my own (~3 cm) they sent us home for the night. At least I got a salad and two painful IV attempts out of the trip.

Audrey was excited to see us back earlier than expected, but she was even more excited to see the milkshake we had picked up from Jack N the Box ("MOOoooom...is that a milkshake? Can I have some?").We hoped the progress would continue naturally and so it was a little bit of an anxious night. We were back at the hospital at 6am the next morning to start pitocin to kickstart contractions and get this baby out. Contractions were regular enough that they broke my water to really get things moving about 12:30. And things got moving...about every couple of minutes contractions were coming and by 2:15 I was 7 cm dilated. I was getting tired and the pain intense so luckily I was ready to push by about 3. At this point, Del was very low and must have been ready. The doctor ran in and two pushes later he was on my chest and we had a BOY!

Grandma and big sister Audrey came to visit that night. They brought Del (and mom and dad) cupcakes for his birthday. Audrey was very excited to meet her baby brother! But she was also curious if I could wrestle with her now (this activity which involves her jumping on top of me was restricted with baby in belly).

We all checked out healthy and were able to head home 24 hours later. We are so thankful and blessed to have a second beautiful baby to bring home with our first two (including Sark here, of course).
